In 1981, the first edition of Technical Methods for Highways (TMH7), code of pratice for the design of Highway bridges and Culverts in South Africa was issued. The initial issue contained two parts. In 1988, a number or revisions and errata were issued. In addition to the updated issues, the code was developed and assembled by the CSRA Subcommitee on Bridge Loadings. The TMH7 has become the adopted bridge design code for highway bridge design in South Africa. Since the issue of TMH7 (1998) no further amendments have been made.
